On Saturday, February 24, 2024, we had the opportunity to attend Winter Chill Out. Each year the park hosts the event and guests get to see behind the scenes what it is like to operate the world's largest amusement park. 
The tour in 2024 was a guided tour. They took us around the park.
The highlight of the tour was to see the process of Top Thrill 2. 
The ride really is impressive. You can see it from most places in the park. 
Speed Zone is being remodeled and it will be a new gift shop for the 2024 season. 
Power Tower's new paint job looks great so far! We can't wait to see the finished project. 
We got to sit in the new Top Thrill 2 trains and they were really comfortable! 
We really had fun at Winter Chill Out! It is a really cool event! Cedar Point raised $110,000 for A Kid Again!

SANDUSKY, Ohio (Feb. 13, 2024) – Cedar Point, The Roller Coaster Capital of the World®, is set to hire 7,000 seasonal associates as it prepares to open for the 2024 season in May. The park anticipates filling the majority of those roles during a week-long hiring blitz to be held Feb. 17-24 online and at the Cedar Point Recruiting Center in Sandusky.
Throughout the season, Cedar Point associates ensure that the park’s mission to make people happy is brought to life. The park has a wide variety of positions available, including:
  • Ride operators           
  • Food and Beverage
  • Lifeguards and Aquatics
  • Security
  • Hotels
  • Maintenance
  • Behind-the-scenes roles and many more
Hourly pay ranges from $13 - $17 (for those who are 16 years of age or older) based on experience, prior service and position. Cedar Point offers competitive wages and benefits, along with many perks for its associates, including discounts, reward and recognition programs, exclusive associate-only events, ride nights, on-site housing for those who qualify and free admission to any Cedar Fair park.

SANDUSKY, Ohio & ARLINGTON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cedar Fair (NYSE: FUN) and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: SIX) today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement to combine in a merger of equals transaction. The combined company, with a pro forma enterprise value of approximately $8 billion based on both companies’ debt and equity values as of October 31, 2023, will be a leading amusement park operator in the highly competitive leisure space with an expanded and diversified footprint, a more robust operating model and a strong revenue and cash flow generation profile.
Under the terms of the merger agreement, which has been unanimously approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies, Cedar Fair unitholders will receive one share of common stock in the new combined company for each unit owned, and Six Flags shareholders will receive 0.5800 (the “Six Flags Exchange Ratio”) shares of common stock in the new combined company for each share owned. Following the close of the transaction, Cedar Fair unitholders will own approximately 51.2%, and Six Flags shareholders will own approximately 48.8%, of the combined company’s fully diluted share capital on a pro forma basis. One business day prior to the close of the transaction, Six Flags will declare a special cash dividend composed of: (i) a fixed amount of $1.00 per outstanding Six Flags share, totaling approximately $85 million in the aggregate, plus, (ii) an amount per outstanding Six Flags share equal to (a) the aggregate per unit distributions declared or paid by Cedar Fair to unitholders with a record date following today’s date and prior to the close of the transaction, multiplied by (b) the Six Flags Exchange Ratio, which special dividend will be payable to Six Flags shareholders of record as of one business day prior to the close of the transaction, contingent on the closing of the transaction.

Compelling Strategic and Financial Benefits
  • A Successful Amusement Park Operator with Complementary Portfolio of Attractive Assets: The combined company will operate a portfolio of 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks and 9 resort properties across 17 states in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The company’s complementary portfolio will include some of the most iconic parks in North America with significant brand equity and loyal, recurring guest bases within the highly competitive leisure space. The combined company will also have entertainment partnerships and a portfolio of beloved IP such as Looney Tunes, DC Comics and PEANUTS to develop engaging new attractions enabled by compelling characters, environments, and storytelling.
  • Diversified Footprint and Guest Experiences: Cedar Fair and Six Flags have minimal market overlap of park operations, and the combined company’s complementary geographic footprint is expected to mitigate the impact of seasonality and reduce earnings volatility through a more balanced presence in year-round operating climates. The portfolio will include diversified experiences for guests including safaris and animal experiences, campgrounds, sports facilities and luxury lounges, enabling the combined company to better meet rising consumer demand for varied and engaging entertainment options.
  • Enhanced Operating Platform to Improve Guest Experiences: By uniting Cedar Fair and Six Flags’ complementary operating capabilities, the combined company will benefit from a more robust operating platform for improved park offerings and more efficient systemwide performance. The companies expect to leverage Cedar Fair’s recent park investment experience to accelerate the transformation underway across Six Flags’ portfolio. Cedar Fair and Six Flags will seek to create a more engaging and immersive guest experience. The combined company will also offer expanded park access to season pass holders along with an enhanced, combined loyalty program featuring additional perks.
  • Experienced and Proven Leadership Team: The senior leadership teams of Six Flags and Cedar Fair bring different and complementary skillsets and experience to the combined company, including decades of park operating experience as well as significant expertise integrating businesses and achieving synergy targets.
  • Significant Cost Savings and Revenue Uplift Opportunity: Following the close of the transaction, Cedar Fair and Six Flags expect the combined company will benefit from the significant value created by total anticipated annual synergies of $200 million. Approximately $120 million of these synergies are expected to be related to identified administrative and operational cost savings, which the companies anticipate realizing within two years following transaction close. The companies also expect to leverage their complementary operating capabilities to deliver additional revenue uplift, generating approximately $80 million of incremental EBITDA that the companies anticipate realizing within three years of transaction close.
  • Strong Financial Profile: Over the last 12 months, through the third quarter of fiscal 2023, Six Flags and Cedar Fair collectively entertained 48 million guests, and, as a combined company, would generate pro forma $3.4 billion1 in revenue, $1.2 billion1 in Adjusted EBITDA2, and $826 million1,3 of free cash flow4, reflecting run rate cost savings of $120 million and revenue uplift resulting in $80 million of incremental EBITDA. The transaction is expected to be accretive to earnings per share for Cedar Fair unitholders and Six Flags shareholders within the first 12 months following transaction close. The combined company is also expected to have a pro forma leverage ratio of approximately 3.7x net debt to Adjusted EBITDA, inclusive of synergies, with a path to reduce the leverage ratio to approximately 3.0x within two years of transaction close.
  • Significant Free Cash Flow Generation and Enhanced Financial Flexibility: The combined company’s increased free cash flow will provide it with greater flexibility to invest in new rides and attractions, broader food and beverage selections, additional in-park offerings, and cross-park initiatives, such as consumer technology and enhanced guest services. The combined company’s resources are expected to be strategically deployed to grow attendance, increase per capita spending, and improve profitability, all while enhancing guests’ value and experience across the park portfolio. Leadership, Corporate Governance and Headquarters
The combined company will be led by a proven management team that reflects the strengths and capabilities of both organizations. Upon closing of the transaction, Richard Zimmerman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cedar Fair, will serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of the combined company and Selim Bassoul, President and Chief Executive Officer of Six Flags, will serve as Executive Chairman of the combined company’s Board of Directors. Brian Witherow, Chief Financial Officer of Cedar Fair, will serve as Chief Financial Officer of the combined company and Gary Mick, CFO of Six Flags, will serve as Chief Integration Officer of the combined company.
Following closing of the transaction, the newly formed Board of Directors of the combined company will consist of 12 directors, six from the Cedar Fair Board and six from the Six Flags Board.
Upon closing of the transaction, the combined company will operate under the name Six Flags and trade under the ticker symbol FUN on the NYSE and will be structured as a C Corporation. The combined company will be headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will maintain significant finance and administrative operations in Sandusky, Ohio.
Approvals and Closing
The merger is expected to close in the first half of 2024, following receipt of Six Flags shareholder approval, regulatory approvals, and satisfaction of customary closing conditions. Approval by Cedar Fair unitholders is not required. Six Flags’ largest shareholder, which owns approximately 13.6% of Six Flags’ shares outstanding, has signed a voting and support agreement to vote in favor of the transaction. The transaction is not expected to trigger any change of control provision under Cedar Fair’s and Six Flags’ respective outstanding Notes. The companies expect to refinance their respective revolving credit facilities, and Six Flags expects to refinance the Six Flags Term Loan, ahead of transaction close.

Midnight Haunted Maze
Mr. Midnight, the icon of HalloWeekends, invites guests to explore the shadowy rooms of his mysteriously malevolent mind and become immersed in his “Book of the Dark,” encountering the fears, terrors and horrors living within its pages. This all-new maze is located near the GateKeeper roller coaster and joins four additional haunted mazes: Bloodbath, Fearground Freak Show, Slaughter House and The Haunting of Eerie Estate, all included with park admission.
Clownz: Death Metal Tour
As guests stroll down the Gemini Midway, they’ll stumble upon the “Butchers of Rock” band, who’ve found themselves performing an eternal concert night after night at HalloWeekends. With live music and clown-faced concertgoers roaming the venue in this new outdoor scare zone, it’s sure to provide sinister guitar licks, murderous metal music and blood-curdling screams. Clownz: Death Metal Tour is just one of five outdoor fright zones, including CornStalkers 2.0, Tombstone Terror-tory, Cut Throat Cove and Blood on the Bayou.
Tastes of HalloWeekends
Cedar Point’s culinary team continues to formulate the perfect flavors for the season, and this year, new delicacies are available. Guests can sink their fangs into the smoked wings of fire, maple sausage on a stick with spicy sriracha maple syrup, cheesecake chimichangas with caramel and apple pie toppings, pumpkin pie spiced churros, Nashville chicken and waffles, the Oktoberfest pizza with mashed redskin potatoes, smoked kielbasa, sauerkraut and cheddar cheese, and so much more. HalloWeekends-themed specialty drinks and the popular “blood bag” alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will return.
Scream-worthy Entertainment
Fresh off their “The Brimstone Club” album’s #2 debut on Billboard’s classical crossover chart, Halloween horror composers Midnight Syndicate will take to the HalloWeekends Main Stage on select nights. The “Echoes of The Brimstone Club” show combines macabre melodies from their new album with live performers, pyrotechnics and a few sinister scares. It’s just one of more than 12 entertainment experiences for adults and kids alike, joining shows like “The Monsters are Coming, Charlie Brown,” “Wake The Dead: A Murder Mystery Musical” and “The Shrieks.”

The strata coaster, known as any roller coaster eclipsing a height of 400 feet, was first pioneered by Cedar Point in 2003. The park will build on that legacy with not one, but two, 420-foot-tall track towers, putting riders in the driver’s seat for one of the greatest races of all time.
A New Formula for Thrills
Riders will immerse themselves as they join the CP Racing Team and climb into one of three, sleek high-performance racing vehicles. Each of Top Thrill 2’s trains will feature open-air seating, providing heart-pounding views on the world’s first and only dual-tower vertical speedway.
On the start, using an all-new linear synchronous motor (LSM) launch system, riders will peel out down the straightaway reaching speeds of 74 mph, racing toward the sky on Top Thrill 2’s original 420-foot-tall “top hat” tower. After experiencing weightlessness during the “rollback” – the coveted fan-favorite moment when the train’s momentum isn’t great enough to make it up and over the tower – the train shifts into reverse and into its second launch, reaching speeds of 101 mph.
Riders will then see Cedar Point unlike ever before as they speed into a backward climb at a 90-degree angle on a new, 420-foot-tall track tower. After a second moment of weightlessness, the train shifts into drive and races forward into its third launch, clocking in at the ride’s top speed of 120 mph.
Crossing over the top hat tower, the train decelerates momentarily before diving into a 270-degree spiral and crossing the finish line.
“Top Thrill 2 will be the boldest and most advanced roller coaster Cedar Point has ever introduced. It’s another one-of-a-kind that could only be built at Cedar Point,” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “Our stamp on the industry is in roller coaster innovation, and today, that’s solidified as we redefine the strata coaster into a mega-thrill that our guests will come from far and wide to experience.”
Delivering High-Tech Racing Performance
Partnering with Cedar Point and utilizing the ride’s original and iconic top hat tower, Zamperla Rides and its Roller Coaster Business Unit engineered and designed a completely new experience. Top Thrill 2 is one of the first roller coasters in the world to utilize Zamperla’s “Lightning” trains, capable of high-speed aerodynamics, performance and rider comfort. The ride’s new high-tech LSM launch system delivers smooth and quiet acceleration while giving riders the chance to feel the rush of motorsport racing.

Cedar Point has quite the list of impressive attractions it has opened over the years. Here we will discuss the attractions and additions that would have an anniversary in 2023.

5th Anniversary (2018)

In 2018 Cedar Point opened the world's first hyper-hybrid roller coaster. Steel Vengeance takes riders on a journey like no other. 

10th Anniversary (2013)

In 2013 GateKeeper opened  near the Cedar Point Beach. GateKeeper takes riders upside down 6 times. Also new in 2013 was Cedar Point's new front gate! 

15th Anniversary (2008)

Planet Snoopy opened in 2008 on the former site of Peanuts Playground. 

Skyscraper opened in Challenge Park. It came to Cedar Point from Valleyfair. The ride closed in 2015.

20th Anniversary (2003)

Top Thrill Dragster opened in 2003 as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. 

25th Anniversary (1998)

Power Tower opened in 1998 as the tallest drop tower in the world. Power Tower is a combo tower that features a drop side and a shot side. 

30th Anniversary (1993)

In 1993 Snake River Falls opened as the tallest, and fastest ride of its kid. Snake River Falls creates a giant wall of water when the boats reach the pool at the bottom of the drop. 

35th Anniversary (1988)

In 1988 Soak City opened as Cedar Point's water park. It was located between Hotel Breakers and Cedar Point. 

40th Anniversary (1983)

In 1983 riders were treated to a new thrill on Demon Drop. Riders would be lifted 131 feet and dropped 99 feet in 2 seconds. The ride closed in 2009. It reopened in 2010 at Dorney Park in PA. 

45th Anniversary (1978)

Gemini opened in 1978 as the world's tallest, fastest, and steepest racing coaster in the world. Gemini features a unique figure eight layout. 

55th Anniversary (1968)
In 1968 Cedar Point expanded to include several new attractions. Sky Slide opened just off the Main Midway. Riders would climb up a series of steps to go down a huge slide on sack. The ride closed in 1991 to make room for Berenstain Bear County. 

Kiddieland was expanded in 1968. The Kiddieland Carousel arrived to Cedar Point in 1968. 

Frontier Town was expanded to include the Place Theater and Last Chance Saloon. Frontier Lift would open as a new way for guests to get to Frontier Town. 

60th Anniversary (1963)

Two new attractions opened in 1963. Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad began taking riders into the woods. 

Mill Race opened during the summer as the second log flume ever built. It closed in 1993 to make room for Raptor. 

65th Anniversary (1958)

In 1958 Cedar Point was starting its transformation into "The Disneyland of the Midwest". As part of the new improvements to the park, Cadillac Cars opened. Riders driver around on a quarter mile track. 

135th Anniversary (1888)

In 1888 Cedar Point built the Grand Pavilion. The Grand Pavilion was the center of the resort for many years. It featured bowling ally's, entertainment, and a new place to eat. Today the building is known as the Lakeside Dinning Room. 

145th Anniversary (1878)

In 1878 a group of bath houses was built on the Cedar Point beach.

The centerpiece of the season is the park’s all-new midway area, The Boardwalk. Hearkening back to Cedar Point’s early days along the shore of Lake Erie, The Boardwalk is a modern take on the park experience of yesteryear.
Inside The Boardwalk, the Wild Mouse spinning family coaster joins Cedar Point’s world-class lineup of roller coasters. Standing 52 feet tall and reaching speeds of 35 miles per hour, Wild Mouse is a nod to its historic namesake. Now with modern technology, the coaster incorporates more hills, twists, dives and hairpin turns than the original could provide. Riders will board one of six, mouse-themed cars and one cheese car that will spin along the 1,312 feet of orange track. The coaster’s free-form spinning action changes with the number of riders aboard each car with no two rides being the same.
Joining the new Wild Mouse are two relocated family rides, Atomic Scrambler and Matterhorn. Additional rides Calypso, Giant Wheel, Troika, GateKeeper® and Dodgem adorn The Boardwalk with experiences for guests of every thrill level.
The anchor of The Boardwalk is Cedar Point Grand Pavilion, a two-story dining and relaxation masterpiece. This all-new space takes many cues from Cedar Point’s original Grand Pavilion which opened in 1888 as the park’s premier entertainment venue. On its main level, Grand Pavilion’s restaurant features hand-crafted culinary items like dry-rubbed pork loin, funnel cake fried shrimp, noodle salad, carved rotisserie sandwiches and more. In 2023 Cedar Point will debut its new boardwalk. The new boardwalk will be home to the Grand Pavillion as the areas center piece. The area is also home to the relocated Matterhorn and Scrambler rides.  Behind the relocated rides is the new Wild Mouse. This new coaster is a modern 
take on a former ride the park had. But did you know Cedar Point has had more than one wild mouse style coaster in it's history? Lets take a look back at the history of the Wild Mouse style coasters at Cedar Point!
The first Wild Mouse opened at Cedar Point in 1959. Wild Mouse was the first roller coaster added to Cedar Point since The cyclone was added in 1929. The ride was located on Cedar Point's Main Midway. This was a common coaster that was at many parks. The ride left Cedar Point in 1963. This is the Wild Mouse that Cedar Point named the new one after. 
In 1963 Cedar Point would open Scamper. Scamper was a wooden style wild mouse coaster. The ride was located at the end of Cedar Point's Main Midway. The ride was likely removed from Cedar Point due to low capacity and expansion needs. It closed in 1969. The ride reopened at Goldrush Junction  in 1970. It would close at that park in 1972. In 1986 Goldrush Junction would become Dollywood. 
In 1970 Wildcat would open on the beach. The ride was a small Schwarzkopf roller coaster. The Wildcat roller coaster shared a similar style to a wild mouse. They both were small coasters and featured small drops and quick turns. Wildcat closed at Cedar Point in 1978 and was relocated to Valley Fair in Minnesota. It would remain in operation at Valley Fair until the end of 1998. In 1999 it was relocated to Jolly Rodger Amusement Park in Maryland. It closed in 2001 and was put into storage until it reopened in 2015. 
In 1979 Cedar Point bought a new WildCat for Cedar Point. The ride was located further down the beach than the original location. In 1985 it was relocated to the Million Dollar Midway. It was there until it closed in 2012.
On August 11, 2022, Cedar Point announced it would open a new wild mouse for the 2023 season. The new Wild Mouse is very revolutionary and does things the original coasters couldn't do.

5th Anniversary (2017)
For ther 2017 season Cedar Point renovated its water park. The park recived 2 new slides, and 2 new kids areas! Cedar Point Shores also reivced new dinning options and a new gift shop. It really is a nice water park. 

10th Anniversary (2012)
In 2012 Cedar Point opened Dinosaur's Alive! Dinosaurs Alive was a walk thru attraction that guests would expeeince life size dinousaurs. The attraction closed in 2018.

In January, Cedar Fair got a new CEO, Matt Ouimet. 

Soak City also received a new water slide. Dragster H20, was a mat slide that guests would race down. 

Also in 2012 Cedar Point would retire a roller coaster for the first time since 1978. WildCat was removed in May, Disaster Transport closed in July. 

15th Anniversary (2007)
In 2007 Cedar Point opened Maverick! It was a diffrent kind of roller coaster for Cedar Point! It didnt't break any records, it was just a fun ride!  Maverick would go on to be one of the most popular roller coasters in the world!

With Maverick came a refresh to Frontier Town. The area felt really diffrent. 

20th Anniversary (2002)
Wicked Twister opened in 2002 on the Cedar Point Beach. Wicked Twister took riders 215 feet into the sky at speeds of 72 MPH. Wicked Twister was the world's tallest, fastest and only double twisting Impulse Roller Coaster in the world. Wicked Twister would hold its records until 2020. The ride closed in 2021.

Also new in 2002 was the Good Time Theatre.  The Good Time Theatre was a conversion of the fomer Cedar Point Cinema. Guests wold be treated to an ice skating show. It closed at the end of the 2014 season and removed to make room for Valravn. 

25th Anniversary (1997)
1997 saw a huge water park expansion for Soak City. The park was expanded to include The Wave Pool, Bubbles Swiim Up Bar, Erie Falls and an activity pool area for families. 

30th Anniversary (1992)
In 1992 Cedar Point added Challenge Park. Challenge Park was an extreme park. The area featured Challenge Racing and Challenge Golf. They were both removed after the 2015 season. 

Just off the Main Midway Berenstain Bear Country was expanded to include an outside themed playground. It would be rethemed to Peanuts Playground in 1999. It was removed after the 2007 season.

35th Anniversary (1987)
Iron Dragon opened in 1987. The unique Suspended Roller Coaster was the first successfull one built in the midwest. 

Iron Dragon would be a great family roller coaster. The ride features two lifts that will send you thru the jungle and over a misty lagoon. 

40th Anniversary (1982)

In 1982 Cedar Point added White Water Landing to Frontier Town.  White Water Landing was a 50 foot tall Hydro Flume. The ride took riders on a journey thru caves and above trees. It was removed after the 2005 season and was replaced with Maverick. 

45th Anniversary (1977)

In 1977 Cedar Point expanded the Corkscrew Midway. Dodgem 1 was relocated from next to the Centenial Theatre to what is now the location of Top Thrill Dragster's hill. It was removed after the 2001 season. 
Witches' Wheel also opened in 1977. The ride was a classic Enterrpise ride. It would also be the only thrill ride that Cedar Point has built that features inversions. It was removed after the 2018 season. 

Also in 1977 Cedar Point added the Resourt Gate. The original location of the gate is apporimatly where Magnum crosses the midway today. It would be moved across the road in 1989, and moved to its current location in 2017.

50th Anniversary (1972)
1972 was a huge expansion year for Cedar Point. They added 3 rides so everyone in the family would have something to enjoy. 

Jumbo Jet opened on Cedar Point's beach. Jumbo Jet was a small powered coaster that was extremely popular. The ride was really expensive to operate and suffered a lot of down time. It was removed after the 1978 season. 

Also on the beach was Matterhorn. Matterhorn is a small spinning ride. It was relocated to the Main Midway in 1985 to make room for Avalanche Run. 

Giant Wheel opened on the Frontier Trail in 1972. Giant Wheel is a beautiful 15o foot tall Ferris Wheel. It was relocated to the beach in 2000 to make room for Millennium Force. 

55th Anniversary (1967)

Cedar Downs Racing Derby was relocated to Cedar Point in 1967. The ride was restored and placed on the Main Midway. 

The big investment for 1967 was Frontier Town. It was Cedar Point's first themed area. Frontier Town featured a second train station, Shoot-the-Rapids, a gift shop, a restaurant, and entertainment. The only way to reach Frontier Town was by riding the train. 

60th Anniversary (1962)

Cedar Point's Sky Ride opened in 1962. The ride takes riders 92 feet above the midway on a jounrey 1/4 of a mile. 

Sky Ride would forver change the look of Cedar Point's Main Midway. Guests would never again have to ride a roller coaster to see the signs of the park from above. Sky Ride remains a family favorte to this day. 

65th Anniversary (1957)

In 1957 Cedar Point guests would arive to Cedar Point from the new Causeway. The Caseway wold make it so you could get to the park faster. Today it is the main way you get to Cedar Point. 

70th Anniversary (1952)

In 1952 Cedar Point opened a new 10 ride Kiddieland. The ageing Cyclone was also torn down in the spring. This was the first time Cedar Point wouldn't have a roller coaster in over 50 years. 

75th Anniversary (1947)

Cedar Point list the Cyclone for sale. 

80th Anniversary (1942)

The Berardi family begain selling their famous fries at Cedar Point. They would become so pupular that they would have to stop selling certain fried foods so they could use the fryers for the fries 

105th Anniversary (1917

The Leap Frog Railway opens. It was famous for having a double down. This element was popular back in the day. 

125th Anniversary (1897)

In late 1897 Cedar Point was bought by George Arthur Boeckling. He found Cedar Point because he was looking for places to put train excursions. He fell in love with the park and he would run it until he died in 1931.

130th Anniversary (1892)

In 1892  Cedar Point opened Switchback Railway. It would be Cedar Point's first ride and roller coaster!

On Saturday, February 26, 2022 Cedar Point held its annual Winter Chill Out event. 
Winter Chillout is a charity event where guests can get a behind-the-scenes tour of Cedar Point. Tickets for the event were $65.00. The event raised over $100,000 that was donated to A Kid Again!
Midway Carrousel is wrapped up for the winter. Some of the horses are being worked on. The chariots are all being repainted.  It takes a lot of work to keep a 110-year-old ride in operation! 
Over at Ocean Motion, not much is going on. The ride is wrapped up while it waits for spring!
It had just snowed the last few days so the park was covered in snow.
The park looks very pretty when it is covered in snow. The wind can be very brutal during the winter. 
Kiddy Kingdom is all taken apart. It is very hard to recognize.
Giant Wheel's cabins are all off for the winter. Giant Wheel will be 50 in 2022!
Tiki Twirl is still in peices. Troika is all wrapped up waiting for spring!
Over at the former Wicked Twister site the ride is all gone. The control booth is the only structure of the ride that is still standing. Crews are curently still trying to remove the foundations for the ride. 
WindSeeker is standing nice and tall over the Cedar Point Beach. 
We then went to our question and answer presentation. We were given some really cool information, most of wish we are sharing with you in this blog. 
After the presentation, we went on a tour of Erie Estates. 
Erie Estates opened in 2008. It is currently Cedar Point's oldest existing haunted house. 
After leaving Erie Estates we then headed to check out the new Peanuts @ The Point Gift Shop. The park looks so calm when its covered in snow. 
The former Snoopy Boutique is receiving iving a make over. The building was built in 1965 to house The Earthquake ride. Snoopy Boutique opened in this location in 1999. For the 2022 season it is become Peanuts @ The Point. 
Across from Peanuts @ The Point is Derby Dogs. It  is relacing Subway. Derby Dogs will be the place you can get premium quality hotdogs! 
We then headed towards Valravn. 
We were able to go inside the low zone of Valravn to see its massive drop!  It really is a spectacular view! 
After leaving Valravn we then headed towards Coasters Drive-In
Coasters Drive-In is currently being remolded for the 2022 season.  Coasters opened in 2022.  The remodel will bring better service to 
In Celebration Central the parade and the show will be returning for 2022! It will be slightly altered because the 150-anniversary celebration is over. 
The Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad is such a cool ride. There aren't many rides like this around.  One of the trains is even being repainted for 2022. 
No trip to Cedar Point is complete without a walk down the Frontier Trail. 
Frontier Trail is so beautiful when its covered in snow. The snow enhances the look of the trail. It makes it look really cool!
The middle of Frontier Town is a huge consturction zone right now. 
In the middle of Frontier Town is The Farmhouse Kitchen and Grill. The new restaurant will have a rotating  menu. 
Cedar Creek Mine Ride is having its track repainted. Town Hall Museum will remain closed in 2022. The project has been put on an indefinite hold for now. 
On the other end of the former Antique Cars is the covered bridge. The park is keeping it and turning it into a new walking path.
Over at Maverick, we got to go into a low zone. We got to see the launch tunnel. 
Matterhorn will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022.
Our next stop was the maintance shop. We got to see some really cool things. 
We then headed back towards the front of the park to go to Park Services. 
After Park Services we went thru the parade float barn. The floats are tucked into this tent every night. 
Our last stop at Cedar Point was a maintance building in the marina. They had Steel Vengance and GateKeeper trains in those shops. 
After leaving the park we were able to stop at the Cleveland Road Maintenance building. 
Winter Chill Out is always such a cool event. You get to see so many neat things. The event is a great experience!

Valravn opened at Cedar Point in 2016. Valravn broke 10 world records when it opened. It was the tallest, fastest, longest Dive Coaster in the world. Valravn flips riders upside down 3 times! At the exit of Valravn you will find Valravn Gifts, the store for Valravn!

3 Point Challenge was also relocated from its location next to Ocean Motion to in front of Chickie's and Pete's.

​In 2016 Cedar Point amped up its Guest Services with several new additions including: a new Marina Gate, WiFi through the park, an all season drink plan, several new drink stands, and the Ride Warriors Club! 

Dodgem received new bumper cars. Tiki Twirl was also repainted to look even better!

10th Anniversary (2011)
In 2011 Cedar Point opened WindSeeker! WindSeeker takes riders up 301 feet and reaches speeds of 30 MPH. WindSeeker is a giant swing. To make room for WindSeeker, the Beach Gate was rebuilt. 

​Ocean Motion was relocated to the front of the park to make room for WindSeeker. The ride received a new pond and more landscaping. 

15h Anniversary (2006)
In 2006 Cedar Point Skyhawk. Skyhawk was the largest ride of its kind when it opened. Riders swing 125 feet into the air at speeds of 60 MPH. The area around Skyhawk also got a facelift. New lighting was added and Town Hall was painted.

20th Anniversary (2001)
Lighthouse Point Resort opened at Cedar Point in 2001. The area featured cabins and cottages for guests to stay in. They could also bring their RV if they preferred. 

Johnny Rockets opened on the Main Midway. 

Vertigo would fling riders into the air in Challenge Park. 

25th Anniversary (1996)
Mantis opened in 1996. Mantis was Cedar Point's Stand Up Roller Coaster. The ride also had the most inversions on any Stand Up Roller Coaster in the world. The ride was close in 2014 to be converted into the Floorless Coaster, Rougarou. 

RipCord. RipCord opened in Challenge Park. RipCord was Cedar Point's sky coaster. 

30th Anniversary (1991)
Mean Streak opened at Cedar Point in 1991. It was the tallest, and fastest wooden roller coaster built when the ride opened. Mean Streak crossed over and under itself 9 times. Mean Streak had a beautiful structure. Mean Streak took riders up 161 feet and reached speeds of 65MPH. 

​Over the years the ride became really rough. It closed in 2016 and was converted into Steel Vengeance. 

35th Anniversary (1986)
Thunder Canyon opened at Cedar Point in 1986 on the Frontier Trail. Thunder Canyon simulates what it is like to go river rafting. The ride takes riders on a 1,600 foot long journey. Thunder Canyon gets its water from Lake Erie, the water is socked and treated daily for the ride. 

Sir-Rub-A-Dub's Tubs opened in Kiddieland. It was a small water ride that riders would float down a small channel. The ride was removed at the end of the 2014 season. 

40th Anniversary (1981)
In 1981 Cedar Point opened a new family thill ride, Ocean Motion. Ocean Motion swings riders 65 feet into the air! The ride was located near the Beach Gate. In 2011 the ride was relocated to the Front Gate to make room for WindSeeker. 

45th Anniversary (1976)
In 1976 Cedar Point opened Corkscrew. Corkscrew was so big, a new midway was built around the ride. To make room for the new midway, Jungle Larry's Safari Island was rebuilt within the midway. The attraction was also renamed Jungle Larry's African Safari. 

Corkscrew was Cedar Point's first record breaking roller coaster in the world when it opened. Corkscrew was the first roller coaster in the world to go upside down 3 times. The ride was very innovative when it opened. Corkscrew was also the first roller coaster to go upside down over a midway. 

​To give guests something else to do Cedar Point added Troika, a family friendly thrilling ride to the new Corkscrew Midway. Troika was built by Huss. 

Addington Grist Mill would welcome its guests for the first time in 1976 on the Frontier Trail. 

50th Anniversary (1971)
In 1971 Cedar Point opened the Frontier Trail. Frontier Trail featured rustic cabins that took guest back to the past. Frontier Trail featured live actors. Today it is home to Millennium Force and Thunder Canyon. 

55th Anniversary (1966)
In 1966 Pirate Ride was relocated to Cedar Point. Pirate Ride was a dark ride that came from Freedomland in New York. Riders were taken on a journey to experience what it was like to be a pirate. The ride was great for families. It closed at the end of the 1996 season. Today the space is used as a haunted house.

60th Anniversary (1961)
In 1961 Cedar Point added a number of additions to appeal more towards families. The Rotor began spinning rides on the Main Midway. Sky Wheel and the Satellite Jets opened in the middle of the midway. Cedar Classic Miniature Golf was built near Kiddieland. 

65th Anniversary (1956)

In 1956 Cedar Point was bought. by George Roose and Emile Legross. They planned to turn Cedar Point into a housing development. 

75th Anniversary (1946)

In 1946 Midway Carousel was moved to Cedar Point from Massachusetts. Today it is the oldest ride in the park, it has been in the park longer then any ride in the parks history. 

90th Anniversary (1931)

On July 24 1931, George Arthur Boeckling died at the age of 69.

95th Anniversary (1926)

AInIn 1926 Cedar Point added the Bon Air wing to Hotel Breakers. It was removed at the end of the 2015 season. 

115th Anniversary (1906)

In 1906 Cedar Point added the Amusement Circle. It was Cedar Point's first midway that ran in a semicircle from the boat dock to the beach. The center of the Amusement Circle was the Coliseum. Today the Coliseum houses the arcade. 

120th Anniversary (1901)

Cedar Point opened the White House Hotel. It was located in the Cedar Point Marina. 

130th Anniversary (1891)

Electricity is added to Cedar Point for the first time.

Some of the attractions on this list are long gone, but they are an important part of the past. 

5th Anniversary (2015)
2015 was a year of renovation for Cedar Point. a built-year renovation project of Hotel Breakers was completed. Inside the park, Mantis was converted to become the Floor-less style Rougarou. Rougarou takes riders upside down 4 times over the Cedar Point lagoon. 

10th Anniversary (2010)
In 2010 Cedar Point opened Shoot the Rapids. Shoot the Rapids was Cedar Point's tallest water ride the park ever built. Shoot the Rapids took riders on a journey like no other! The ride featured 2 drops and had a Wild West themed. Shoot the Rapids closed in 2015 and was torn down in the spring of 2016 to make room for future expansion. 

15th Anniversary (2005)
In 2005 Cedar Point opened the maXair thrill ride. maXair takes riders 140 feet in the air at speeds of 70 MPH! maXair is a very popular ride in the park!

20th Anniversary (2000)
In 2000 Cedar Point opened Millennium Force. Millennium Force was the first roller coaster in the world to take guest over 300 feet in the air. Riders on Millennium Force reach speeds of 93 MPH and are taken on a journey like no other! To make room for Millennium Force Giant Wheel was moved to the beach midway near Disaster Transport. 

25th Anniversary (1995)

In 1995 Cedar Point celebrated its 150th anniversary. The highlight of the season was a new night time show. The show would be changed a few times over the years before being removed in the spring of 2012.

30th Anniversary (1990)
In 1990 Avalanche Run was enclosed and re-themed as Disaster Transport. Disaster Transport was an indoor space roller coaster where guest would be taken to space. After a few years the theming in the ride wasn't being fixed and the ride turned into a roller coaster in the dark. Disaster Transport closed in 2012 and was removed o make room for Gatekeeper. 

35th Anniversary (1985)
Avalanche Run opened in 1985 on the Cedar Point Beach. Avalanche Run was Cedar Point's Bobsled Roller Coaster. Riders would twist and turn thru the tubes. Avalanche Run simulated what it was like to go on an actual bobsled. The ride was down a lot for mechanic problems. The ride closed in 1989 to be transformed into Disaster Transport. 

40th Anniversary (1980)

Oceana opened in 1980 as Cedar Point's marine life complex. The theatre was home to a dolphins show. The attraction lasted until 1997. In 1998 it was converted into the Cedar Point Aquatic Stadium. The Cedar Point Aquatic Stadium was home to a dive show until 2006.
In 2008, The Cedar Point Aquatic Stadium was converted into the Extreme Sports Stadium. The Extreme Sports Stadium was home to a bike show. The building was tore down after the 2017 season to make way for future expansion. 

45th Anniversary (1975)

In 1975 The Cedar Point Cinema was the largest IMAX Theatre in the world. The attraction played a different show every year until 2001. In 2002 the building was repurposed as The Good Time Theatre and was an ice skating show. The theatre was removed in 2014 to make room for Valravn. 

50th Anniversary (1970)
In 1970 Cedar Point was celebration its 100th anniversary. The park added new live entertained, a new midway, and a new roller coaster. 1970 was a great season for Cedar Point!

55th Anniversary (1965)
Space Spiral opened in 1965. When the ride opened it was the tallest ride in the world. Space Spiral was the first ride in the world to take guest over 300 feet. Space Spiral was an observation tower that took guest up and gave them a view of the entire park. The ride was removed to make room for Gatekeeper.  Jungle Larry's African Safari was a live animal show that lasted form 1965 to 1994. On the Main Midway Cedar Point opened Earthquake. The ride was from Freedom Land and closed in 1985. 

60th Anniversary (1960)
In 1960 Cedar Point added The Riverboat Cruise. It would later be named Western Cruise then in 1987 was renamed Paddlewheel Excursions. The ride closed in 2011. Dodgem 1 was added to the front of the park. It was removed in 2001. Scrambler opened in what was then the back of the park. 

65th Anniversary (1955)

Fascination was a popular game parlor that was located on the Main Midway. It was removed at the end of the 2000 season because it was difficult to find replacement parts for the game. Fascination was replaced with Johnny Rockets for the 2001 season. 

90th Anniversary (1930)

In 1929 the stock market crashed. This sent the United States into the Great Depression. The time was really bad for people and they did't have extra money to spend. For the  1930 Cedar Point decided to close Cedars. The hotel would be used when it was needed for 1931. In 1932 it was converted into employee housing. It was tore down in early 1932.

95th Anniversary (1925)-Noah's ark

In 1925 Cedar Point added Noah's Ark to the Main Midway near what is now the Jack Aldrich Theatre. Noah's Ark was a tilting funhouse. It closed in 1959.

100th Anniversary (1915)

In 1915 Cedar Point covered the White House Hotel into the Cedars Hotel. The hotel was renovated and expanded. 

115th Anniversary (1905)
In 1905 Cedar Point opened its largest hotel. Hotel Breakers contained 600 rooms. When it opened it was one of the largest hotels anywhere. Over the years Hotel Breakers has been expanded and remodeled many times. 

150th Anniversary (2020)
Cedar Point opened in 1870. The park started as a simple bath and beach resort. Over the years the park as grown into what it as become today. From the "Queen of American Watering Places" to "America's Roller Coast", it was no accident that Cedar Point had turned into a must visit destination!

We recently recived our copy of Cedar Point: Rolling Through the Years. This book is the ultimate book that has been written about Cedar point.

The book is an Atlas and Chronology that covers everything you would want to know about Cedar Point!   

​We received the  very special limited edition that only had 1,000 copies ever made. 
All of the information you would want to know is in this book. People who like history of the world's best amusement park are going to love this book! The book features over 1200 images and about 75 maps. It is a very interesting read. Even after running a fanzine for 12 years, I have found a lot of things I didn't know about this book. 
Cedar Point: Rolling Through the Years was wrote by Ken Miller of Sandusky Ohio. Ken is a local high school math teacher. Ken has also been a seasonal associate at Cedar Point for 20 years.  

Ken has worked in the Town Hall Museum at Cedar Point since 2004. Over the years he has researched the park. For the past 5 Years he has been working on his book and it was well worth his time!
The book size is 12x18. It truly is a huge book! It weights just under 10 pounds. The materials that make this book are very high quality. 
Cedar Point: Rolling Through the Years is the best book that has ever been written about Cedar Point.  In the context of the book is a lot of information that has many people never knew. It is a very interesting read and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Cedar Point. Ken, the author put countless hours into bringing this book to the hands of readers. The book is loaded with history. It features and entire history section that goes year by year and features what happened that year. The book includes facts about everything the park has ever had to offer. Cedar Point Rolling: Through the Years isn't a book you read just once. You will want to read it again and again!

Cedar Point is a great place with a lot of different things. Each year the park grows and evolves with new attractions featuring new innovation. 2019 will bring the new Forbidden Frontier attraction as well as some updated dinning options. 2019 also brings quite a few milestone anniversaries for  rides that are both still at the park and removed.

5th Anniversary (2014)

In 2014 Cedar Point updated the Gemini Midway. With the new Gemini Midway came Pipe Scream, Lake Erie Eagles and SlingShot! The new Gemini Midway was a great addition to Cedar Point!

10th Anniversary (2009)

In 2009 Cedar Point added Starlight Experience. The Frontier Trail was transformed into a new light show. The new interactive midway fountain also opened in 2009.

15th Anniversary (2004)

2004 Game Day Grille replaced the Silver Dollar Cafe. Lighthouse Point was expanded, Castaway Bay opened in November and Splash Zone opened in Soak City.

20th Anniversary (1999)

in 1999 Cedar Point opened Camp Snoopy. Camp Snoopy was the parks 4th children's area. Also in 1999 Berenstain Bear Country was converted into Peanuts Playground.

25th Anniversary (1994)

Raptor opened in 1994 as the tallest and fastest inverted roller coaster in the world. Raptor was an impressive roller coaster when it opened in 1994.

30th Anniversary (1989)

Magnum XL-200 opened in 1989 as the first roller coaster in the world over 200 feet. Magnum XL-200 was the longest steel roller coaster when it was built. 

40th Anniversary (1979)

In 1979 Cedar Point added a variety of new attractions. Jr. Gemini, Gemini Children's Area, Wave Swinger and a new WildCat. The original Wildcat was sent to Valleyfair! in 1979.

50th Anniversary (1969)

in 1969 Cedar Point expanded Frontier Town. With the expansion of Frontier Town the park added Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Antique Cars!

55th Anniversary (1964)

In 1964 Cedar Point added Blue Streak. Blue Streak was the first major roller coaster built at the park since 1929! In 2019 Blue Streak will be the first roller coaster at Cedar Point to reach 55 years of operation.

60th Anniversary (1959)

By 1959 Cedar Point was really making a come back from when the park almost closed due to the depression. In 1959 Cedar Point added Monorail and Turnpike Cars. At the end of 1959 several older rides would be closed to make room for the new rides that would follow.

8oth Anniversary (1939)

In 1939 Cedar Point renovated the ball room. They would start hosting nightly dances. It was these events that kept the park alive over the next few decades. 

85th Anniversary (1934)

In 1934 Cedar Point added the Tumble Bug and the High Frolics. These rides were some of the few that were added to the park during the depression. Very few people were going to the park during this time.

90th  Anniversary (1929)

In 1929 Cedar Point added the Cyclone. Cyclone was the last great addition added to the park by G.A. Boeckling. He died in 1931.

95th Anniversary (1924)

in 1924 Cedar Point added the Caterpillar, a ride that spun around and had a green canvas cover riders.  The first Kiddieland was also added.

100th Anniversary (1919)

Eden Musee was added. The attraction was located at present day Jack Aldrich Theater.

120th Anniversary (1899)

In 1899 Cedar Point opened its first hotel, the Bay Shore Hotel. Over the years it would be expanded to become the Cedars Hotel by 1915. Cedars was tore down in January 2019, 120 years after it was first built.

130th Anniversary (1889)

The laddies Pavilion is built on the beach. This is where the woman would hang out.

Sandcastle opened in 1990 as a new beach front hotel.
The removal of Sandcastle Suites along with the near by Breakwater Cafe is a bit surprising. Over the past few years a lot of money has been spent on the resort side of the park
Located near WindSeeker, Cedar Point will also be removing the Extreme Sports Stadium. The theater was built in 1980 and housed Oceanea until 1998. From 1999 to 2006 it was the Cedar Point Aquatic Stadium and featured a dive show. In 2008 the building was re-purposed to house the All Wheels Extreme Show.
With these long time park landmarks out of the way, it leaves room for an interesting future for Cedar Point. Removing the stadium is part of an ongoing plan to open up the views of the beach that was blocked as the park expanded in the 1980's and 90's. While we don't know for sure what will replace these attractions, we do know that a boardwalk will be built connecting the main parking lot with Cedar Point Shores Waterpark.

RipCord, the park's Sky Coaster that was taken down in September appears as if its been Relocated and already re-installed! The ride looks as it will now be swinging riders over the Cedar Point Lagoons. It appears that Ripcord is now on the land formally home to the park's Intamin flume ride, Shoot The Rapids.
RIpCord originally opened in 1996 as part of a huge Challenge Park expansion. In 2016, Rip Cord was the last ride standing from Challenge Park.
While Exact details on RipCord like "is it going to get a new name and theme" are up in the air right now, it sure is safe to say that RipCord is staying at Cedar Point.
Over at Mean Streak, progress is currently underway at removing its track to make way for future expansion of Frontier Town.
It looks like most of the track from the ride has been removed at this point. The ride is really looking like a skeleton.
Mean Streak opened in 1991 and got "the Axe" on September 16, 2016.
In the middle of the park, the old water tower is still standing.
Elsewhere in the park, rides are waiting to be put back together for Cedar Point's May 6th opening!

I began the weekend by making a quick trip to Battery Park where I took some beautiful pictures of the ever changing Cedar Point Skyline.
This weekend I had a chance to visit Cedar Point and check things out. The park was very busy this weekend and most rides had a long line. It was Columbus Day weekend so the park had extended hours, but it was still a fun weekend.
Over in Challenge Park, Ripcord had been dismantled a few weeks ago and is  currently sitting in pieces on the former site of the Go Karts.
Crews are painting Ripcord so that it will be ready to begin its new life!
On the other side of Challenge Park, Challenge Golf has been completely removed. The area will become home to a parking lot that is needed for the 2018 expansion of Hotel Breakers.
Challenge Park began its life at Cedar Point in 1961 as Cedar Classic Miniature Golf. It was located on the west side of Kiddy Kingdom where the 4x4's are now located. I was moved in 1967 to where Planet Snoopy now is located. In 1992, the attraction was redesigned and relocated to Challenge Park where it was renamed Challenge Golf.
Demolition has began on the building that was most currently home to Cinnabon  and Auntie Ann's. Over the years this building was used as Subway, an arcade and a cafe style restaurant.
Inside the Park work is differently happening to Mean Streak, the parks 25 year old wooden roller coaster that got its Axe September 16, 2016. 
In certain areas, the track has been removed from the ride.
On the lift hill, not only has it started to have its track taken down, certain parts of the hill have been removed entirely!
Due to the ride being at the back of the park, and being a twister coaster, it is difficult to get pictures of the ride.
The rides entrance and exit have both been bordered up. The entrance sign has also been taken down.
Another surprisingly fun thing i got to do is watch Spooky Shenanigans.
The show is very entertaining and is a great experience!
It was a great weekend at Cedar Point!

Now that Soak City has officially closed for the season, Soak City has began its transformation into Cedar Point Shores Water Park! We had an opportunity to go down and check out the progress!
Soak City's East Admission page has started to come down. The new gate will be relocated to the middle of the water park near Magnum XL-200's drop.
Deconstruction of the Challenge Park Ticket booth has began. When this first opened in 1988, it was used to sell the tickets from Soak City.
Demolition on Challenge Golf has began. Challenge Golf was built in 1992.
Challenge Golf will eventually become a parking lot for the new expansion of Hotel Breakers!
The former Challenge Park is all fenced off so that construction can began on Cedar Point Shores Water Park.

The Big new change in the park for 2015 is Rougarou! Rougarou is Cedar Point's new floor-less roller coaster! The new trains on the ride were a huge improvement! Its a very fun and exciting ride!
The ride even had a new entrance sign! It is a very exciting change for the park. The ride also has other special effects that make the ride really unique!
Over at Celebration Showplace, the stage is getting new lights and screens to make Luminosity: 2015 Edition a fun and exciting show for the park!
Over at the former Dodgem location, the area now has a large site around it.
On the main midway, Cedar Point's Sweet Spot is a fun an exciting new location to get all kinds of sweets!
Dodgem was moved to the Wicked Twister Midway where it will continue thrilling families.
Calypso was moved to near Giant Wheel where it was renamed and retheamed as Tiki Twirl! Its the same fun ride its been since the ride opened at Cedar Point in 1963!
Further down the new Wicked Twister Midway there is now a Beaver Trails and Coke Freestyle locations!

So, Kelsi and I decided to have a little fun today! First, we met at Dairy Queen and we got some ice cream there! Dairy Queen is very good and Im glad we ate there! There is so many different things to try at DQ!
After, Dairy Queen, we took a trip out to Battery Park! Batter Park is located on the shores or Lake Erie!
After we left Battery Park, We went to Jackson Street Pier and got some more amazing shots of the lake!
After leaving Jackson Street Pier, we went to the Merry Go Round Museum! The Merry Go Round Museum is located in downtown Sandusky and if you love Merry Go Rounds, you will love this place!
The museum has cool horses on display!
They've even got a cool station that shows Pov's of some od the parks most popular rides like Millennium Force, Raptor, Gatekeeper, Maverick . Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick!
The last thing we did at the Merry Go Round Museum is we rode there Carousel! It was a fun enjoyable and relaxing ride that families could ride together! They've also got a gift shop there!
