Scrambler
1960-2022
The Scrambler is a classic spinning ride built by the Eli Bridge Company and is one of Cedar Point’s oldest attractions.
The 1950s were a transitional period for Cedar Point. In the early 1950s, the park had begun to fall into disrepair. In 1956, Cedar Point was purchased by local businessmen who initially planned to close the resort and turn the land into a housing development. After public protests, the new owners decided instead to transform Cedar Point into the “Disneyland of the Midwest.” The park added Cadillac Cars in 1958, followed by Turnpike Cars and the Monorail in 1959.

On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Cedar Point announced it would build The Boardwalk for the 2023 season. The new area would include the Grand Pavilion and Cedar Point’s newest roller coaster, Wild Mouse. Scrambler would also be relocated to this area, where it would be renamed and rethemed as Atomic Scrambler.

In 2015, Mantis was transformed from a stand-up roller coaster into Cedar Point’s first floorless roller coaster,
Rougarou. That same year, Shoot the Rapids closed unexpectedly. In 2016, Valravn began diving into Cedar Point, and later that year Mean Streak closed.
In 2017, Cedar Fair welcomed a new CEO, Richard Zimmerman. Soak City was also rebranded as Cedar Point Shores Waterpark that year. In 2018, Steel Vengeance opened as the tallest, fastest, and longest hyper-hybrid roller coaster in the world. Dinosaur’s Alive! also closed in 2018.
In 2019, Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island opened as Cedar Point’s new themed adventure area. In 2020, Cedar Point planned to celebrate its 150th anniversary, but the celebration was delayed until 2021 due to the global pandemic. The park ultimately celebrated the milestone in 2021. That same year, Cedar Point also welcomed a new general manager, Carrie Boldman, and opened Snake River Expedition, a reimagining of a classic Cedar Point family ride. In 2022, Farmhouse opened in Frontier Town, replacing the Antique Cars.

Atomic Scrambler is a great ride for people who may be too big for the kids’ rides but don’t want to ride more intense attractions like WindSeeker or maXair.
