Raft Slides opened in 1988 as part of the Soak City Waterpark.
Raft Slides were located between the Body Slides and Hotel Breakers.
In 2012, the Rafts slides were repainted from off-white to yellow, teal, and pink.
The Raft Slides consisted of 3 slides on one tower. The wavey slide in the middle was known as "The Plunge Slide"
Raft Slides were a favorite over the years.
On August 18, 2016, Cedar Point announced it would be transforming Soak City into Cedar Point Shores Waterpark.
Crosscurrent 2017
The existing rides in the waterpark would be renamed and re-themed to fit the new name of the park. Raft Slides were renamed Crosscurrent.
The memories of Raft Slides would be relived on Crosscurrent.
Crosscurrent is located on the same side of the water park as the new Point Plummet waterslide. This would bring more traffic to the ride that it did not previously have.
Crosscurrent was one of Cedar Point Shores Waterpark's oldest slides.
As time went on, the slides really started to show their age.
Cedar Point Shores did not open in 2020. When the park reopened, Crosscurrent would be down a lot. The plunge slide would open more than the green and purple slide.
After sitting unused for a while, the original yellow and purple slides had quietly given their final rides.
In Early May 2024, the Yellow and Purple slides were removed. This left the Plunge slide still standing.
The Plunge Slide operated as normal throughout the 2024 season.
The stairs that once led to the yellow and purple slides remained. Under where the slide was, the footers that once held the slides remained.
This led to lots of rumors about what was to come to the waterpark. Guests would not have to wait long to find out what was to come!
On Saturday, February 22, 2025, Cedar Point announced that it would be rebuilding Crosscurrent for the 2025 season.
The new slides would be translucent and feature White Water West's latest technology.
Crosscurrent was rebuilt during the winter and spring of 2025. The ride featured 2 new slides, and the plunge slide was refurbished.
The opening of Cedar Point Shores Waterpark would be pushed back due to very unusual seasonal cold weather.
The opening of the ride kept getting pushed back. The park decided to delay the opening of the slide to an unknown date.
