Tilt-A-Whirl

Tilt-A-Whirl was a re-introduction of an old Cedar Point classic. 

On Friday, November 13, 1998, Cedar Point announced it would open Camp Snoopy for the 1999 season. The new kids area would have 7 rides, a food stand, a new outdoor theater, and a new roller coaster.

​The area would be themed to the Peanuts franchise. 

Tilt-A-Whirl opened on Sunday, May 9, 1999.

Tilt-A-Whirl is located between Charlie Brown's Wind Up and the Camp Snoopy Theatre. 

Tlit-A-Whirl was actually the second tilt-a-whirl that Cedar Point has had. The first one was part of the amusement circle. The ride thrilled Cedar Point guests until the early 1960's. 

Even tho Tilt-A-Whril was placed inside a kids area, it is not a ride for little kids. This ride is a full-sized tilt-a-whirl ride. Riders often get really dizzy on this ride. 

Camp Snoopy is very highly themed. area to the Peanuts franchise. By 2018 Tilt-A-Whril was the last ride in Camp Snoopy that was not themed. That was soon to change. 

Tilt-A-Whirl closed on Sunday, October 28, 2018. 

On Saturday, February 23, 2019, Cedar Point announced that Tilit-A-Whirl was going to be rethemed and renamed as Linus' Beetle Bugs for the 2019 season.

Linus' Beetle Bugs is a themed tilit-a-whirl ride that is located in Camp Snoopy at Cedar Point. 

The ride had been restored so that it would last a really long time. It was also painted and rethemed to better fit in with the Camp Snoopy theme. 

Linus' Beetle Bugs was built by Sellner. The ride is a standard tilt-a-whirl that has been themed to the Peanuts franchise. 

Linus' Beetle Bugs is located in Camp Snoopy. The ride is between Woodstock's Airmail and the Camp Snoopy Theatre. 

Linus' Beetle Bugs opened on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

Linus' Beetle Bugs would continue the legacy of Tilt-A-Whirl in a new and fun way. 

Linus' Beetle Bugs was built by Sellner.  Sellner is the manufacturer of the famous Tilt-A-Whirl ride.

Linus' Beetle Bugs is a very exciting ride.  It is more exciting than the rides in Kiddy Kingdom, but it isn't as intense as rides like Monster, Lake Erie Eagles, Wave Swinger, and Monster. 

Linus' Beetle Bugs is a great ride for the entire family to ride together. 

Theming

Linus' Beetle Bugs has a really cool theme to it. The ride really does fit in with the Camp Snoopy theme. 

The ride doesn't have theming like you would find on a Disney, or Universal ride, but the ride does have a special feeling to it. 

Linus's Beetle Bugs is themed to Linus playing with Beetle Bugs. 

The cars have dots painted on each one of them. It adds a lot of character to the ride. 

Tilt-A-Whirl Anne

Anne is the biggest fan of Linus' Beetle Bugs! For years, she has been going to Cedar Point several times a week. Her favorite ride has always been Tilt-A-Whirl. It's always a good time hanging out with her. Of course, you can find her riding Linus' Beetle Bugs with her friends.

Ride Experience

The ride experience for Linus' Beetle Bugs beings when riders get in line for the ride. 

Riders don't normally wait more than 5 to 10 minutes to ride Linus' Beetle Bugs. 

Riders are loaded into 1 of 7 cars. Each car holds up to 4 riders. The rides are held in place with a lap bar that does not lock. 

The ride starts moving in a clockwise circle. 

The cars go up and down small hills. This gives riders a little bit of airtime as they go over the hills. 

Each car is also inside a small circle. The car spins around inside the circle. This is what gives the ride its intensity. 

Riders can make the cars spin more by shifting their weight. The cars are able to free spin inside their track. 

Riders laugh and giggle as they go spinning over the hills. 

Linus' Beetle Bugs is about a 2-minute experience. 

The ride spins less as it starts to slow down. 

Once the ride comes to a complete stop riders can exit the ride back to the Camp Snoopy midway. 

A Great Fit For Cedar Point 

Linus' Beetle Bugs was a great addition to Cedar Point when it opened in 1999. It was well-needed. 

The last time Cedar Point added a ride that was a similar thrill experience to Linus' Beetle Bugs was when they added the Million Dollar Midway in 1970.

Guests love riding Linus' Beetle Bugs. Over the years, it has become a classic at Cedar Point. 

Linus' Beetle Bugs has been thrilling riders at Cedar Point for 25 years. 

Riders must be 46 inches tall to ride Linus' Beetle Bugs alone. Riders less than 46 inches tall can ride with a supervising companion. All guests under the age of 6 must have a supervising companion. Hand-held infants are not allowed on this ride.
