On Friday, November 13, 1998, Cedar Point announced that Camp Snoopy would open for the 1999 season. The new kids’ area would feature seven rides, a food stand, a new outdoor theater, and a brand-new roller coaster.
The area was themed around the beloved Peanuts franchise. |

The Red Baron ride experience begins as guests wait in line, anticipating their turn to climb aboard.
|

The queue is located directly to the right of the ride.

|

The average wait time for Red Baron is 5–10 minutes. As a kids’ ride, it usually doesn’t get very busy.

|
Riders board small World War II–style airplanes, with each plane accommodating two riders—one per row. Each rider is secured with a seatbelt.

|
Once Red Baron starts, riders are able to steer their airplanes around the ride.
|
|

Riders can use the control stick in their plane to adjust how high they fly. If younger riders have trouble, the ride operator can raise all the planes to ensure everyone enjoys the experience.

Riders can raise and lower their planes as they like, creating a personalized and interactive ride experience.

After 1979, Cedar Point didn’t add another kids-only ride until Bumper Boats opened in 1993, followed by Frog Hopper in 1998. In 1999, Camp Snoopy introduced two more kids-only attractions: Red Baron and Snoopy Bounce. These rides gave younger guests exciting new experiences to enjoy, filling an important gap in the park’s lineup for little kids.
