The Rotor opened at Cedar Point in 1961 as a concession ride located along the Main Midway.
The ride was relocated further down the Main Midway toward the Main Entrance in 1963. |

After adding the Rotor in 1961, Cedar Point continued its rapid expansion with a wave of new attractions: Sky Ride (1962), Scamper (1962–1964), Mill Race (1963–1993), Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad (1963), Blue Streak (1964), and Broadway Trip (1964). Together, these additions helped usher Cedar Point into the modern amusement park era.

The Rotor closed for the final time at Cedar Point on September 13, 1964.
