Skyhawk
2006
Skyhawk debuted in 2006 in the Frontiertown section of Cedar Point, becoming the tallest and fastest ride of its type in the world at the time.
In the mid-1990s, Cedar Point was in the middle of a race to build the world’s tallest and fastest roller coasters. In 1996, the park continued this trend with the opening of Mantis. Chaos and Swan Boats were added in 1997. In 1998, Power Tower opened as the tallest and fastest drop ride in the world. The park expanded its family offerings in 1999 with the opening of Camp Snoopy.
In 2000, riders braved Millennium Force, the world’s first Giga Coaster. In 2002, Wicked Twister opened as the tallest and fastest Impulse Coaster in the world. The following year, Top Thrill Dragster became the first roller coaster in the world to take riders over 400 feet when it opened in 2003. In 2005, maXair began spinning riders 140 feet in the air.
