Slingshot opened at Cedar Point in 2014 as part of the New Gemini Midway Expansion.

In 2005 maXair opened as the tallest and fastest frisbee ride in the world. In 2006 Skyhawk started swinging riders 125 feet into the air. Riders would twist and turn thru canyons on Maverick in 2007. In 2008 fun was out of this world for guest who braved Planet Snoopy, the park's new kids area that was relocated from Geauga Lake. Shoot the Rapids became Cedar Point's newest water ride in 2010. In 2011 riders would swing 301 feet into the air on WindSeeker. At the end of 2011, long time Cedar Fair CEO, Dick Kinzel retired. In 2012 Cedar Fair got a new CEO, Matt Oumitt. For 2012 Cedar Point added Dinosaurs Alive. GateKeeper would take guest upside down 6 times and over the new front gate in 2013.

On August 27, 2013, Cedar Point announced the New Gemini Midway. The area would be completely redone. The remodel would include 2 new rides, new options for guests to get something to drink as well as Frozen Yogurt.

On February 20, 2014, Cedar Point announced that it would also but SlingShot on the New Gemini Midway. SlingShot would be a new record-breaking ride for Cedar Point.

When Cedar Point opened for the 2014 season, SlingShot wasn't quite ready. The park had to finish putting the ride together.

|
SlingShot was rapidly built in June of 2014. The ride was huge for such a small spot it was in.

|
|
|
|
|
SlingShot would open to the public on July 2, 2014.
|
|
|
|

|
|
SlingShot was built by Funtime of Australia.
SlingShot is a reverse bungie ride. SlingShot cost Cedar Point 1 million dollars to build. Due to the ride's extremely low capacity, the ride is an upcharge attraction. Platinum Pass holders do get a discount to ride this ride. |

SlingShot is the 5th ride Cedar Point has that takes riders over 300 feet. In addition, Space Spiral was also over 300 feet. The other rides at Cedar Point to go over 300 feet were: Power Tower (1998), Millennium Force (2000), Top Thrill Dragster (2003-2021), WindSeeker (2011). and Top Thrill 2 (2024)

Ride Experience
|

|
|
|
The Slingshot ride experience begins when guests buy their ride tickets. Guests then go to the right side of the booth and walks up to the ride. This is also the place where you can buy your on-ride video!

|
|
|
|
Slingshot riders are loaded into the ride vehicle. There are only two seats and you must have two riders.
The ride has an over-the-shoulder restraint and a seatbelt. |

|
|
|
SlingShot tilts its riders on their back. They face the sky and wait.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Without waring riders are flung 360 feet into the sky!

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
On the way up riders reach speeds of 62 MPH!
When the ride reaches the top the carriage rolls, flipping them over. From 360 feet in the air, SlingShot gives riders a great view of Cedar Point and Lake Erie. |

|
|
SlingShot then drops its riders to the ground at a fast pace before being flung back into the sky.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
As the ride bounces up and down the tower, the ride has a set of springs that stretch and shrank, causing the ride to move up and down.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ride continues to bounce up and down the tower causing riders to experience the sensation of airtime.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The SlingShot Experience last about 3 minutes.

|
SlingShot is a very thrilling ride. Guests who ride it love it!

|
|
The ride operator catches the car and connects it to the ground. Once this happens riders can exit the ride.

SlingShot was a great addition to Cedar Point.

After Gemini Midway was renovated Cedar Point added several more additions that would round out its offerings. Cedar Point would add:Rougarou (2015), Valravn (2016), Cedar Point Shores Waterpark (2017), Steel Vengeance (2018), Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island (2019-2022), Cedar Point’s 150th Anniversary Celebration (2021), Snake River Expedition (2021-2023), The Boardwalk (2023), Top Thrill 2 (2024), and Siren’s Curse (2025)
All of these additions have helped make Cedar Point a better place.

Riders must be at least 44 inches tall to ride SlingShot.
