SlingShot opened at Cedar Point in 2014 as part of the new Gemini Midway expansion.

In 2005, maXair opened as the tallest and fastest frisbee ride in the world. In 2006, Skyhawk began swinging riders 125 feet into the air. In 2007, riders twisted and turned through canyons on Maverick.
In 2008, the fun was out of this world for guests who braved Planet Snoopy, the park’s new children’s area that had been relocated from Geauga Lake. Shoot the Rapids became Cedar Point’s newest water ride in 2010.
In 2011, riders soared 301 feet into the air on WindSeeker. At the end of that year, longtime Cedar Fair CEO Dick Kinzel retired. In 2012, Matt Ouimet became Cedar Fair Entertainment Company’s new CEO. That same year, Cedar Point added Dinosaurs Alive!.
In 2013, GateKeeper opened, taking guests upside down six times and soaring over the park’s new front gate.

On August 27, 2013, Cedar Point announced the new Gemini Midway. The area would be completely redesigned. The renovation included two new rides and new options for guests to purchase drinks and frozen yogurt.

On February 20, 2014, Cedar Point announced that it would also add SlingShot to the new Gemini Midway. SlingShot would become a new record-breaking ride at the park.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
When Cedar Point opened for the 2014 season, SlingShot was not quite ready. The park still needed to finish assembling the ride.
|
|
|
|
|
SlingShot was rapidly constructed in June 2014. The ride was massive for the relatively small space it occupied.
|
|
|
|
|
|
SlingShot opened to the public on July 2, 2014 at Cedar Point.

SlingShot was manufactured by Funtime, an Australian company known for producing extreme thrill rides.
SlingShot is a reverse bungee ride. The attraction cost Cedar Point approximately $1 million to build. Due to the ride’s extremely low capacity, it operates as an upcharge attraction. However, season pass holders receive a discount to ride.” |

SlingShot is located on the Gemini Midway between the train crossing and the exit of the Gemini at Cedar Point.

SlingShot is the fifth ride at Cedar Point to take riders over 300 feet into the air.
In the past, Space Spiral also stood over 300 feet tall before it was removed. Other attractions at Cedar Point that reach over 300 feet include:

Ride Experience
|
|
|
|
|
The SlingShot ride experience begins when guests purchase their ride tickets. Guests then go to the right side of the booth and walk up to the ride entrance. This is also where guests can purchase their on-ride video.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
SlingShot riders are loaded into the ride vehicle, which has only two seats. Two riders are required for each launch.
The ride uses an over-the-shoulder restraint along with a seatbelt for added safety. |

|
|
|
|
SlingShot tilts riders onto their backs, where they face the sky and wait for the launch.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Without warning, riders are launched 360 feet into the sky!
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
On the way up, riders reach speeds of 62 mph.
When the ride reaches the top, the carriage rolls, flipping riders over. From 360 feet in the air, SlingShot gives riders a great view of Cedar Point and Lake Erie. |

|
|
|
|
|
SlingShot then drops riders back toward the ground at a rapid pace before launching them into the sky again.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
As the ride bounces up and down the tower, a set of elastic cords stretch and contract, causing the ride to move up and down.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ride repeatedly bounces up and down the tower, giving riders the exciting sensation of airtime.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The SlingShot experience lasts about 3 minutes.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
SlingShot is an extremely thrilling ride, and many guests who experience it enjoy the excitement it provides.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ride operator then catches the car and secures it to the ground. Once the car is secured, riders can exit the ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
SlingShot was a great addition to Cedar Point.
|
|

|
|

After the Gemini Midway was renovated, Cedar Point added several more attractions and amenities to round out the area’s offerings: Rougarou (2015), Valravn (2016), Cedar Point Shores Waterpark (2017), Steel Vengeance (2018), Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island (2019-2022), Cedar Point’s 150th Anniversary Celebration (2021), Snake River Expedition (2021-2023), The Boardwalk (2023), Top Thrill 2 (2024), and Siren’s Curse (2025)
All of these additions have helped make Cedar Point an even better place for guests to visit. |

SlingShot is a very unique experience. The ride offers a view unlike any other at Cedar Point.

Riders must be at least 44 inches tall to ride SlingShot at Cedar Point.
