Space Age is a kids ride that is located in Kiddy Kingdom at Cedar Point.

In 1970 Cedar Point expanded Kiddieland as part of their many projects to celebrate Cedar Point's 100th Anniversary. Space Age was part of this expansion.
|
|
|
|
|

Space Age opened on Saturday, May 23, 1970.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Space Age was located in Kiddieland near the Krazy Kars.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Space Age was a very well liked ride by the kids. It was unique and really cool.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
In 1979 Rock, Spin & Turn and Space Age were moved to the new kids area on the Gemini Midway. The rides were meant to accompany the new Jr. Gemini roller coaster. Gemini Children's Area was a great addition to Cedar Point.

|
|
By moving Space Age to the back of the park it gave kids in the back of the park another ride they could ride. Before the 1979 season, there were no kids rides in the back of the park.
|

|
|
|
|
|
Gemini Children's area was located across from the Gemini roller coaster.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Space Age would entertain guests in Gemini Children's Area until the end of the 2013 season.
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
In 2014 Space Age was relocated back to Kiddy Kingdom. The ride replaced Hot Rods.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Space Age is located in front of 4x4's. It is beside Motorcycles.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
When Cedar Point moved Space Age to Kiddy Kingdom it was proof of Cedar Point's comment to providing rides and experiences for every member of the entire family.

Hampton has built many rides for Cedar Point. Hampton and Cedar Point worked together in 1970 to expand Kiddieland with what was then the most modern technology in kids rides.

Ride Experience

|
|
The entrance for Space Age is on the side of the ride that is closest to 4x4's. The ride has no official queue space.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders don't wait very long to ride Space Age. They are usually on the next cycle. It is very rare that they would wait more than one ride cycle.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders are loaded into one of six space ships. Each car holds six people. Riders are held in place with a seatbelt.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Space Age moves in a clockwise motion. The ride spins while it goes around.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Each car has a steering wheel and horns for guests to use while the ride is moving. It helps give the illusion that the kids are driving the space ships.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ride features a wavy track that the cars go up and down on small hills.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Kids love Space Age. It is a really fun ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Rock, Spin & Turn is about a 2-minute ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Once the ride comes to a complete stop, ride operators come around and help riders out of the cars. Riders can then exit back to Kiddy Kingdom.

Becoming a Classic
|

Riders love Space Age. It is a very fun ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
For decades, Space Age has been thrilling Cedar Point's youngest riders. Many different generations of kids have ridden this ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Over the years Cedar Point has become known for its big rides like Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, maXair, Power Tower and so much more. Those rides are for adults. Space Age does a really good job of providing thrills and fun ride experiences to kids
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Kids love Space Age. It will continue to thrill guests at Cedar Point for the foreseeable future.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders must be able to walk independently as well as under 54 inches tall to ride Space Age.

|
|
