Wave Swinger is a swing ride that is located in Frontiertown at Cedar Point.

Wave Swinger is a classic amusement park ride. It can be found in parks all around the world.

The 1960's saw a lot of expansion for Cedar Point. That expansion would continue into the 1970's with the addition of Million Dollar Midway in 1970. Million Dollar Midway opened giving guest more rides to make lines shorter. In 1971 guest were sent back to the past with the opening of Frontier Trail. Giant Wheel opened in 1972. In 1975 Cedar Point Cinema opened featuring Imax movies!. Corkscrew became the first roller coaster in the world to flip rides upside down 3 times in 1976 on its new midway. In 1977 the Corkscrew Midway was expanded. Gemini became the world's tallest roller coaster in the world in 1978.

1979 was a big expansion year for Cedar Point. On the Beach, the park added a new WildCat that replaced the old one and it was relocated to Jumbo Jets location to make room for future expansion.

On the Gemini Midway, Gemini Children's area made its grand debut. The area included Jr. Gemini. Jr. Gemini would be the first roller coaster in the world to be built by Intamin. Intamin would return to the park to build some of the park's biggest roller coasters.

Wave Swinger opened in Frontiertown to add something else for guest to do in that area.

The first Wave Swinger ride was built in 1972. The ride was built in Germany. The ride was very popular and was started opening in parks all around the globe.

Cedar Point got its version in 1979. They placed it in Frontier Town near the Frontier Carousel against a pond. The pond gave the ride a cool effect because the ride would swing next to it.

Wave Swinger was built by Zierer. It would be the park's modern swing ride.

Wave Swinger is a really fun ride and it thrills guest even 41 years after it first opened.

Theming

Wave Swinger is one of Cedar Point's most themed Flat rides! Wave Swinger is a German themed ride.

Wave Swinger has beautiful engravings into the ride itself. Each panel has a different scene. The ride features bright colors.

Wave Swinger features 100's of colored lights. The lights make the ride really come to life at night. With all these lights, the ride is like a flying carousel!

Ride Experience

The Wave Swinger ride experience begins with guest entering into woven basket style seats. Each seat contains a bar that connects to a seat belt.

Wave Swinger can accommodate up to 48 riders a cycle.

Wave Swinger starts by lifting its riders into the air. As it lifts riders it starts to spin in a clockwise circle.

Wave Swinger lifts its riders 31 feet in the air. Its a bit thrilling to be spinning off the ground in a small chair like that!

As the ride gets to full height it begins to tilt to its side, created a wave like action.

The ride feels as if you are floating thru the air! It a very fun ride!

Wave Swinger stops tilting and starts lowering riders to the ground.

The ride then stops spinning and lowers riders to the ground. Wave Swinger last about 2 minuets.

Wave Swinger is a great family ride. Since 1979, Wave Swinger has been a family favorite ride that puts smiles on the faces of its riders!

Today, Wave Swinger is Cedar Point's 30th oldest ride in the park.
