Wild Mouse is Cedar Point’s newest family roller coaster!

In 2015, Mantis was transformed from a stand-up roller coaster into Rougarou, Cedar Point’s first floorless roller coaster. Shoot the Rapids also closed unexpectedly in 2015.
In 2016, Valravn began diving into Cedar Point. Later that year, Mean Streak closed.
In 2017, Richard Zimmerman became the new CEO of Cedar Fair. That same year, Soak City was rebranded as Cedar Point Shores Waterpark.
In 2018, Steel Vengeance opened as the tallest, fastest, and longest hyper-hybrid roller coaster in the world. Dinosaurs Alive! also closed that year.
In 2019, Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island opened as Cedar Point’s new themed adventure area.
In 2020, Cedar Point planned to celebrate its 150th anniversary, but the celebration was delayed until 2021 due to the global pandemic. Cedar Point officially celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2021.
Also in 2021, Cedar Point welcomed a new general manager, Carrie Boldman. Snake River Expedition opened that same year as a reimagining of a classic Cedar Point family attraction.
In 2022, The Farmhouse Kitchen & Grill opened in Frontier Town, replacing the Antique Cars.
In 2016, Valravn began diving into Cedar Point. Later that year, Mean Streak closed.

On October 25, 2017, Cedar Point announced that it would remove Extreme Sports Stadium for future park expansion. The stadium was originally built in 1980 for a dolphin show. It was removed after the park closed for the 2017 season.

In 2018, the site of the former Extreme Sports Stadium became home to the all-new Lakeside Stage at Cedar Point. The new stage hosted a nighttime show with a dance area. It closed at the end of the 2019 season and was not used in 2020. In 2021, the area served as a VIP space for Cedar Point’s 150th anniversary celebration.

On August 6, 2021, Cedar Point announced that it would remove Wicked Twister from the park. During its time at Cedar Point, the ride gave more than 16 million rides.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wicked Twister had its final launch on Monday, September 6, 2021. The ride had a very long line throughout the entire day.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
During the fall of 2021, Cedar Point took the opportunity to remove smaller elements of Wicked Twister, such as signage. They also removed ride parts that could be reused, along with the ride’s electrical system.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ride was removed once the park closed for the season.
|
|
|
|
|
|
By late February 2022, the entire Wicked Twister had been removed from Cedar Point.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
When Cedar Point opened for the 2022 season, the site that once housed Wicked Twister was blocked off to the public.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
As the summer went on, Cedar Point began placing teaser posters on the fence.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Guests could even look over the fence and see Cedar Point building its next mystery construction project.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The Boardwalk would include Cedar Point’s 18th roller coaster, Wild Mouse. Wild Mouse is a freeform coaster built by Zamperla. The ride is a modern take on a ride that Cedar Point had from 1959 to 1963.
|
|
|
|
|
During the fall, construction began on the new roller coaster at Cedar Point. The park poured the concrete pad that would serve as the foundation for Wild Mouse.
|
|
|
|
After Cedar Point closed for the 2022 season, Wild Mouse began to rise.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse was built rather quickly. The track and supports were fully assembled by the end of November 2022, but Cedar Point still had a lot of work to do before the ride could open.

|
|
|
|
|
Cedar Point used the rest of the winter to bring the new area to life.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
On March 2, 2023, Cedar Point released concept art and the names of the cars for Wild Mouse. Each car has a different color and name.
|
|

|
On March 17, 2023, it was revealed that the cars for Wild Mouse were being placed on the track at Cedar Point.
|
|
|
|
On April 5, 2023, Wild Mouse made its first test run at Cedar Point. After the first test run, the park continued testing the ride all the way up to opening day.
|

Wild Mouse opened during the afternoon on Saturday, May 5, 2023, at Cedar Point.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse is located on The Boardwalk at Cedar Point. The ride sits among the attractions along the Boardwalk and offers incredible views of the new midway and the beach.

Wild Mouse was built by Zamperla, a ride manufacturer from Italy. Zamperla has built 15 rides for Cedar Point over the years. Wild Mouse is a name that was reused from a roller coaster that operated at Cedar Point from 1959 to 1963. The new Wild Mouse features elements and movements that were impossible for the original ride to perform.

Wild Mouse’s entrance portal is a throwback to the original Wild Mouse’s exit portal.

In the Wild Mouse entrance plaza, riders have a chance to take pictures with the mouse from the car they rode in.

Ride Experience
|
|
|
|
|
The Wild Mouse ride experience begins as soon as riders enter the entrance plaza. Guests walk into the plaza and pass under the Wild Mouse sign.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The average wait time is between 10 and 45 minutes. When the park is very busy, the line can be up to an hour.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
There are a few shade structures over the queue that help keep guests cool on hot days. The line also moves quickly for this ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders are quickly loaded into one of seven cars. Wild Mouse features a continuously moving platform.
|
|
|
Riders are secured on Wild Mouse with a lap bar only. The ride does not have a seatbelt.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse takes a sharp turn to the left and heads up the 52-foot-tall lift hill.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
It takes 23 seconds for Wild Mouse to carry riders up the hill.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse then turns to the left and goes down a drop. As the ride descends, riders experience a moment of airtime.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The cars begin to spin as they go down the drop.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse then goes through a series of very tight switchbacks. These sharp turns cause the cars to spin.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Each end of the switchbacks has a set of block brakes. These allow the ride to run multiple cars at once so more riders can enjoy the ride.

|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse then drops riders out of the switchbacks and sends them spinning into the horseshoe element.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The horseshoe element gives riders a strong pop of airtime.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse then takes riders into a downward helix.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The helix is very fast, and riders spin the entire way through it!

After the helix, riders go through a brake run that slightly slows the train down.

Wild Mouse then takes a banked U-turn. As the ride goes through the turn, the cars spin like crazy!

Once the ride stops moving, the car continues to spin until it is time to return to the station.
|

The train arrives back at the station, and riders exit the train.

The train keeps moving through the station while riders load and unload from the car.

|
Riders then exit down the ramp into the ride’s exit plaza. In the exit plaza, you can take pictures of the different mice that each car is named after.

A Good Fit for Cedar Point
|
|
|
|
|
|
Wild Mouse is a great addition to Cedar Point. It’s a true roller coaster the whole family can enjoy. It’s also the first family roller coaster to open at Cedar Point since Iron Dragon debuted in 1987.

Families really love Wild Mouse because it gives them another fun ride they can enjoy together.
