4x4's opened on Saturday, May 5, 1990.

To make room for 4x4's, Cedar Point removed a miniature carousel. This freed up space for the park to add the new ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
4x4's is located in the Kiddy Kingdom section of Cedar Point. The ride is located between Motorcycles, Space Age, Mustangs, Rock, Spin & Turn, and the Kiddy Kingdom Carousel.

|
|
|
|
4x4's was built by Venture Manufacturing of Dayton, Ohio. The company also built Sir Rub-a-Dub’s Tubs.

4x4's is a ride where guests drive small trucks around a track.

I had the chance to work 4x4's in 2020 when my full-time ride was not ready to open. It was a really cool experience to give kids their first chance at “driving.” In 2021, my contracted ride was in Kiddy Kingdom, and I also worked 4x4's for a few shifts in 2023.

Ride Experience
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders are loaded into the small trucks at the station. Each truck holds up to three riders, with adults required to sit in the back seat. Riders are secured with a seatbelt.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
4x4's is an electric ride. The ride operator manually moves the trucks through the station blocks.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ride system takes over and “drives” the trucks along the course once they enter the main track.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders are given the illusion that they are driving the trucks themselves.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ride travels through a beautifully landscaped area, which adds to its visual appeal.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The trucks complete one circuit of the track, which takes about two minutes.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders are unloaded once all the trucks return to the platform.
|

Becoming a Classic
|
|
|
|
|
|
4x4's has been in Kiddy Kingdom for 36 years, making it a classic favorite among guests.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Guests love 4x4's, as it gives children their first experience riding amusement park attractions.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
4x4's was a fantastic addition to Cedar Point and will continue to entertain guests for generations to come!
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Riders must be able to walk to ride 4x4's. Guests under 54 inches tall may ride with a supervising adult if desired.
