Cedar Point Cinema

The Cedar Point Cinema was a large theater that featured the world's largest IMAX screen.

Space Spiral opened in 1965. The ride was the first ride in the world to take riders over 300 feet. In 1966 Pirate Ride was moved to Cedar Point from Freedom Land in New York. Frontier Town opened in 1967 as Cedar Point's first themed area. In 1968 the huge Sky Slide opened. Frontier Town was expanded in 1969 to include the Antique Cars and Cedar Creek Mine Ride. In 1970 Cedar Point was celebrating its 100th anniversary. The midway was expanded to include the Million Dollar Midway. Frontier Trail opened in 1971 connecting the Main Midway to Frontier Town. In 1972 Cedar Point opened Giant Wheel, Jumbo Jet, and Matterhorn. 

In 1970 Cedar Point opened the Million Dollar Midway. The area was closed directly off the Main Midway. 

Himalaya would close at the end of the 1974 season. This would free up space foe Cedar Point to build its next attraction. 

The Cedar Point Cinema opened on June 5,1975. It was by far Cedar Point's largest live entertainment venue. 

Cedar Point Cinema was located behind Dodgem and between Bayern Kurve and Turnpike Cars.  The theatre had a big presence on the midway. 

The Cedar Point Cinema featured the world's largest  IMAX Theater when it opened. The screen was  66 feet high and was 88 feet wide. It was very impressive for its day. 

Every year the Cedar Point Cinema would feature a new show. each show would be very immersive and dew large crowds of guests to experience the show.

The Cedar Point Cinema was very popular when it opened at Cedar Point. Over the years the theater entertained millions of guests. By the late 1990's it wasn't as popular as it once was and the theater had run its course.

​ In order to keep the attraction Cedar Point would need to upgrade the technology to run the show. In the end they decided it was best to just move on and do something else.

​The Cedar Point Cinema closed in 2001.

On November 20, 2001, Cedar Point announced that the Cedar Point Cinema would be replaced with the Good Time Theatre for the 2002 season. 

The Good Time Theatre opened in 2002. It was home to an ice skating show. The Good Time Theatre would entertain park guests until the end of the 2014 season. On November 24, 2014 it was announced that Cedar Point was removing the Good Time Theatre from the park for further park expansion. 

The theater was completely removed from Cedar Point before the start of the 2015 season. 

On May 7, 2016 Valravn opened as the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in the world. The roller coasters second half of the ride uses the land that was once home to the Cedar Point Cinema.
