Antique Cars

Antique Cars were added to Cedar Point in 1969. Antique Cars is a family ride in witch riders drive around a track that is located in the middle of Frontier Town.

In 1958 Cedar Point added Cadillac Cars! There were such a success that in 1959 Turnpike Cars were added to the park!

For the 1969 season, Cedar Point expanded Frontiertown. The expansion would include Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Antique Cars.

The Cadillac Cars turned out to be so successful that in 1969, Cedar Point decided to add a 3rd such ride called Antique Cars in its Frontiertown section of the park!

Antique Cars were located in the middle of Frontier Town. Antique Cars quickly because really popular just like the other two rides in the park that were similar to it!

Over the years, the Antique Cars have become a very popular ride. The ride took riders thru some tees, over a pond and under a covered bridge.

Antique Cars featured a 1/4 quarter mile track that riders drive thru.

Theming

Antique Cars took guest on a journey back in time. They get to experience what it is like to five an old fashioned car from back in the early 1900's.

The cars on Antique Cars were 3/4 scale replicates of 1910 touring Cadillac Cars.

Antique Cars was in a beautiful location. The ride was located under the trees and went past billboards, under covered bridges, around ponds.

Antique cars was a really fun experience!

Antique Cars was built by Arrow Dynamics of Clearfield, Utah. Arrow Dynamics was a very innovating company. They would build some of the biggest riders at the time. Over the years they put several rides in at Cedar Point including: Cadillac Cars (1958), Turnpike Cars (1959-2014), Mill Race (1963-1993), Earthquake (1965-1984), Pirate Ride (1966-1996), Shoot-The-Rapids (1967), Antique Cars (1969), Cedar Creek Mine Ride (1969), Corkscrew (1976), Gemini (1978), White Water Landing (1982-2005), Iron Dragon (1987), Magnum XL-200, and Snake River Falls (1993). These rides have been some of Cedar Point's most popular rides over the years.

Ride Experience

The Antique Cars ride experience begins with guest getting in line for the ride. The line is located to the left of the ride station.

Guest had to cross over the bridge to get in line for Antique Cars.

The average wait time for Antique Cars was 5-10 minutes . The longest line for the ride was rarely over 20 minutes.

The station was really nice for the ride. It held up to 6 cars at at time. Guest stood on their circle and waited for their car to arrive.

Each Car held up to 4 people. They were held into place with a seatbelt.

Antique Cars had 18 different cars. Each car featured a different color.

On Antique Cars riders controlled when the car is moving. They could drive their car down the path. There was a guide rail to keep the car on the path.

Riders pushed the pedal down to make the car go, and they lifted their foot to make the car stop.

Antique Cars was a 3-4 minute ride. It was a great experience for guest to enjoy.

Guest loved Antique Cars! Over the years they have been very popular for park guest.

The Frontiertown expansion in 1969 was very popular for park guest. They loved the Wild West experience they were getting. Over the years Cedar Point built more attractions that would make the park the best amusement park in the world. All of these attractions have helped make Cedar Point what it is today.

COVID-19

In early 2020 the world would enter into the COVID-19 pandemic. Cedar Point would not reopen until July 2020.

The Antique Cars did not reopen in 2020.

As the summer progressed the ride was prepped for possible construction. Rumors started flying that Cedar Point would be removing the Antique Cars.

2021

Antique Cars did reopen during the 2021 season.

The 2021 season went on as normal. Rumors of the removal of the ride kept swirling.

Antique Cars don't normally operate for Halloweekends. They closed on September 12, 2021.

On November 12, 2021, Cedar Point announced that it was removing the Antique Cars. The ride would be replaced with a new restaurant.

The park also announced they were keeping the covered bridge and it would be a new walkway.
