Dinosaurs Alive! opened at Cedar Point in 2012 on the newly renamed Adventure Island!

Dinosaurs Alive was located on the island that was under  Millennium Force. To access the island the attraction used an area just off the Gemini Midway at the end of Camp Snoopy. 

Dinosaurs Alive replaced Paddlewheel Excursions. It opened in 1987 and closed in 2011.

Dinosaurs Alive was an up-charge interactive walk thru. The attraction  was 5.00 per guest. Starting in 2014, anyone that had a platinum pass was able to experience the attraction for free. 

Dinosaurs Alive! was a great experience that the entire family can enjoy together!

Dinosaurs Alive! had around 50 life-sized Dinosaurs! The Dinosaurs moved, roared and chomped, just like the real ones did!

Dinosaurs Alive! opened at Kings Island, Cedar Point's sister park, in 2011. In 2012, the attraction was brought to Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Point, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom and Kings Dominion. In 2013, the attraction was added to Worlds of Fun, Valley Fair and Carowinds. Cedar Point's is very unique because it is the only one that is on an island!

Attraction Experience

The attraction experience for Dinosaurs Alive began with guests entering the entrance plaza for the attraction. The area had a very natural look to it. 

Guests would purchase tickets for the attraction at the edge of the lagoon. 

Guests would then walk across a bridge that was located in the lagoon. The bridge was a floating bridge so it would go up or down depending on the level of the water. 

Once guests reached the island they would step back 65 million years to when dinosaurs roamed the earth! 

Dinosaurs Alive was a highly immersive experience. The 50 dinosaurs would move, chomp, and roar like the real dinosaurs would. 

Dinosaurs Alive was unlike anything the park had ever had before. 

The dinosaurs were located on the side of a trail. The trail went all the way around the island. 

All along the trail there were some really cool signs that had facts about the Dinosaurs!

In addition to being entertaining, Dinosaurs Alive! was also educational. You could learn many different facts on the trail.

Dinosaurs Alive! featured a special digging area for kids where they can dig up there own Dinosaurs!

Kids loved digging for their own dinosaurs! 

Dinosaurs Alive! was a great attraction for the entire family to experience together! It was a very unique experience. 

To leave Dinosaurs Alive guests would walk across the bridge.

Riders would exit the attraction by going thru the DinoStore. 

Going Extinct 

Dinosaurs Alive wasn't the hit that Cedar Point wanted it to be. The attraction was a hit with little kids, but not families like they expected it to. 

The attraction was cool, but it wasn't what park guests wanted. 

After Dinosaurs Alive opened Cedar Point would do what it does best and go back to building roller coasters. Over the next several years Cedar Point would add: GateKeeper (2013), New Gemini Midway (2014), Rougarou (2015), Wicked Twister Midway (2015-2022), Valravn (2016), Cedar Point Shores Water Park (2017), and Steel Vengeance. All of these additions rounded out Cedar Point's collection of rides. 

On August 21, 2018, Cedar Point announced that Dinosaurs Alive was going extinct and would be replaced with Forbidden Frontier for the 2019 season. 

Dinosaurs Alive! closed on September 1, 2018 and was removed from the park. 

Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island opened in May 2019 replacing Dinosaur's Alive! as well as what was left of the Shoot the Rapids ride site. Forbidden Frontier is a highly immersive experience for guest to explore!
