Slingshot opened at Cedar Point in 2014 as part of the New Gemini Midway Expansion.
In 2005 maXair opened as the tallest and fastest frisbee ride in the world. In 2006 Skyhawk started swinging riders 125 feet into the air. Riders would twist and turn thru canyons on Maverick in 2007. In 2008 fun was out of this world for guest who braved Planet Snoopy, the park's new kids area that was relocated from Geauga Lake. Shoot the Rapids became Cedar Point's newest water ride in 2010. In 2011 riders would swing 301 feet into the air on WindSeeker. At the end of 2011, long time Cedar Fair CEO, Dick Kinzel retired. In 2012 Cedar Fair got a new CEO, Matt Oumitt. For 2012 Cedar Point added Dinosaurs Alive. GateKeeper would take guest upside down 6 times and over the new front gate in 2013.
SlingShot is the 5th ride Cedar Point has that takes riders over 300 feet. In addition, Space Spiral was also over 300 feet. The other rides at Cedar Point to go over 300 feet were: Power Tower (1998), Millennium Force (2000), Top Thrill Dragster (2003-2021), WindSeeker (2011). and Top Thrill 2 (2024)

Ride Experience
After Gemini Midway was renovated Cedar Point added several more additions that would round out its offerings. Cedar Point would add: Rougarou (2015, Valravn (2016), Cedar Point Shores Water Park (2017), Steel Vengeance (2018), Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island (2019-2022), Cedar Point's 150th Anniversary Celebration (2021), The Boardwalk (2023), and Top Thrill 2 (2024). All of these additions have helped make Cedar Point a better place.
