Pipe Scream opened in 2014 as a family roller coaster on the new Gemini Midway. Pipe Scream takes riders up and down on a wavy track.

After Cedar Point opened Top Thrill Dragster, the park would add a variety of new attractions. In 2005, Cedar Point added maXair, a 140-foot swinging pendulum ride. In 2006 Sky Hawk opened as the world's tallest swing ride. Maverick arrived in Frontier Town in 2007. In 2008 Planet Snoopy was relocated to the park from Geauga Lake. Shoot the Rapids opened in 2010 as the park's modern flume ride. In 2011 riders would swing 301 feet above the beach on WindSeeker. In 2012, Dinosaurs Alive opened on Adventure Island! GateKeeper flew over the new front gate in 2013. With all of these impressive changes, 2014 would be another year of change.

Gemini Midway was added to Cedar Point in 1978 as part of the Gemini expansion. Over the years a new kids area was added and several rides would be moved to the new midway.

Over the years the Gemini Midway became very rundown. The area had not changed much over the years. The area had the same look and feel as it did in 1978. It became very clear that the Gemini midway would need a new update.

On August 27, 2013, Cedar Point announced the new Gemini Midway. The area would be completely redone. Gemini Children's Area would be replaced with Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles. The area would feature a new Yogurt Plus and Coke Freestyle. The new make over of the midway was really something for guests to look forward to.

Pipe Scream and the new Gemini Midway were built over the 2013-2014 off-season. The new bright colors would make the midway look really good!

Pipe Scream opened as the parks 17th roller coaster on Saturday, May 10, 2014.

Pipe Scream is located on the Gemini Midway directly in front of the Gemini roller coaster. Behind Pipe Scream is Campy Snoopy.

Pipe Scream is billed as the best of a roller coaster and flat ride in one!

Pipe Scream is a great ride for families that have kids that are not quite big enough to ride some of Cedar Point's bigger rides.

Ride Experience

The Pipe Scream ride experience begins with riders entering the line by the Pipe Scream sign on the Gemini Midway.

36 riders at a time are loaded onto a giant skateboard style car.

Pipe Scream starts by rocking its riders back and both on its 301-foot u shaped track.

As the ride gains speed it starts to spin around in a circle.

As the ride goes over the hills you experience some decent airtime. At the top of the spikes, riders experience some cool hang time.

The ride experience lasts about 2 and a half minutes.

Pipe Scream is a good ride for the entire family to ride together.

Pipe Scream's Impact On The Roller Coaster Capital Of The World

Pipe Scream was a great addition to Cedar Point. It filled the void that was created over the last decade with removals like Paddlewheel Excursions, Disaster Transport, and Space Spiral.

After the addition of Pipe Scream, Cedar Point focused on adding bigger and better attractions including: Rougarou (2015), Valravn (2016), Cedar Point Shores Water Park (2017), Steel Vengeance (2018), Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island (2019-2022, Cedar Point's 150th Anniversary Celebration (2021), The Boardwalk (2023), and Top Thrill 2 (2024) All of these new attractions have helped balance out Cedar Point's additions.
