WindSeeker is Cedar Point's giant swing ride that is located on the beach. The ride opened in 2011.

In 2000 Cedar Point opened Millennium Force. Millennium Force was the first roller coaster in the world over 300 feet when it opened in May of 2000. In 2002 Cedar Point added Wicked Twister on the beach. 2003 saw Top Thrill Dragster become the first roller coaster in the world over 400 feet. In 2005 maXair opened near Kiddy Kingdom adding a the first thrill ride at Cedar Point in several years. In 2006 Skyhawk started swinging guest in Frontiertown. In 2007, Maverick became the first roller coaster added to Cedar Point since 2003. In 2008 Planet Snoopy became the park's newest kids area. Shoot the Rapids opened in 2010 as Cedar Point's newest attraction. With all these new additions, 2011 would bring another great ride!

On August 24, 2010, Cedar Point announced it was going to build WindSeeker for the 2011 season.

WindSeeker would be located on the beach in the former spot of Ocean Motion and the Beach Gate.

On October 31, 2010, Cedar Point would close for the season. Ocean Motion closed with the park that day.

After Cedar Point closed for the 2010 season on October 31, 2010, Cedar Point began to take down Ocean Motion. At that point, the ride was taken apart carefully so it could be refreshed so the ride could be relocated.

On November 8, 2010, Cedar Point announced that Ocean Motion would be receive more theme and be relocated to the former Demon Drop location in the front of the park.

After Ocean Motion was removed from the location, Cedar Point began to prepare the site and put in the foundation and electricity for the ride's massive tower.

As the winter progressed, WindSeeker's 9 pieces that make up its massive tower arrived and staged to be put together.

Once the bottom piece for WindSeeker was in place, the ride quickly grew into the sky!

When Cedar Point opened in May 2011, WindSeeker was not quite ready to open. WindSeeker suffered from being a pro-type ride and the location of the ride ride caused the ride to be down because of wind.

After 1 month of delays, WindSeeker opened to the public on June 14, 2011.

WindSeeker was built by Mondial of the Netherlands. So far WindSeeker is the only ride built at Cedar Point by Mondial.

Ride Experience

The WindSeeker ride experience begins with riders entering the line for the ride. The line line is located directly to the left of the ride and it features shade structures.

The average wait time for WindSeeker is 5-10 minuets. The ride rarly has a line over 20 miuites.

WindSeeker starts by loading on ground level. The ride 32 seats that hold 2 people each. The ride holds 64 people total.

Each seat has a lap bar and a seatbelt that connects to the lapbar. The seats on WindSeeker are flourless.

The Floor-less seats really helps the give riders the flying sensation.

The ride begins climbing the tower. As the ride goes up the tower it starts spinning in a counter clockwise circle.

WindSeeker then takes it's riders up to the top of the tower. The spins faster and faster as it goes up the tower. The ride spin at speeds of 30 MPH!

As the ride gets faster it swings its riders at a 45 degree angle around the tower!

WindSeeker takes riders to a height of 301 feet in the air! WindSeeker gives riders great views of Cedar Point and Lake Erie! You can see about 30 miles away from the top of WindSeeker!

After spinning around the top of the tower for 1 minute, WindSeeker then brings its passengers back to the ground!

The ride lowers its riders back to the platform where they exit the ride.

WindSeeker is a great thrill ride and it gives a great view!

WindSeeker is a great thrill ride! It gave guest another ride that takes guest really high into the air!

In 2011, Cedar Fair added WindSeeker rides at Cedar Point, Kings Island, Knotts Berry Farm and Canada's Wonderland. They are all the same ride and costed 5 million dollars each!

In 2012, WindSeeker was added to Kings Dominion and Carowinds as well! These WindSeekers are the same as the first 4 were but costed 6.5 million each!

In November 2013, Knott's Berry Farm then closed its WindSeeker where it was taken down, then shopped to World's of Fun where it was painted, renamed and rethemed to Steel Hawk!

WindSeeker is 1 of 5 rides at Cedar Point that reach 300 feet in the air! The other rides are Millennium Force, Power Tower and SlingShot! When Space Spiral was at the park (1965 - 2012) It was also over 300 feet! Top Thrill Dragster takes riders over 400 feet!

After WindSeeker, Cedar Point continued to add attractions to balance out its offerings. Cedar Point would add: Dinosaur's Alive! on Adventure Island (2012-2018), Gatekeeper (2013), New Gemini Midway (2013), Rougarou (2015), Valravn (2016), Cedar Point Shores Water Park (2017), Steel Vengeance (2018), Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island (2019), and Cedar Point's 100th Anniversary Celebration (2021). All of these new additions have helped round out Cedar Point's offerings.
